Unwound - featuring Maribyrd
The Hunters Club presents our Thursday evening intimate musical experience “Unwound” featuring the best local artists from 6:30pm-8:30pm. A complimentary spirits tasting each week with two signature cocktails avaiable for purchase. Its the perfect setting to unwind and set sail on a truly magical experience.
week two 2/9/2025 we are proud to present the man of many talents MARIBYRD.
Affectionately described by her peers as "NJ's Joni Mitchell", Mary Hubley, known as Maribyrd,
is a singer/songwriter, born and raised in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of Northern NJ.
Her live performances range from intimate and acoustic, to dynamic full bands, and everything in
between. Both fronting her own projects and sitting in with artists throughout NJ, NY, & PA, she
plays acoustic guitar, mandolin, a little bass, and has both a gift and a passion for harmonies.
Joe Cirotti Trio
Joe Cirotti Trio, a well-oiled string band from the shadows of Northwest Jersey’s Appalachian ridge, fuses their multi-instrumentalist upbringings with a passion for the roots of American folk, jazz, country, and bluegrass. Their bond is rooted in proximity, strengthened by a blue-collar passion for picking, and buoyed by their shared propensity for roots music and whiskey.
Formed in 2015, the current line-up of Joe Cirotti: guitar, Pete Lister: upright bass, and Timmy Coyle: mandolin and guitar, continues to craft a sound steeped in tradition yet infused with modern twists.
The group also occasionally plays as a 4/5-piece ensemble, adding banjo, fiddle, dobro, percussion, or even more mandolin, often joined by founding member Mike Alexander.
Joe Cirotti Trio has become a fixture at premier area venues across the NWNJ area, and is booking into the summer and fall across a wider area. Their debut release, “Joe Cirotti Trio”, launched on CD and Vinyl in December 2023, and streaming on all major platforms.
They find common musical ground in influences like Doc Watson, Tony Rice, and Garcia/Grisman, but also as diverse as Django Reinhardt, Pink Floyd, and Van Halen. This stirs up a one-of-a-kind blend of Americana, bluegrass, alt-country, and gypsy jazz, and acoustic pop.
Charlie Don't Surf
Charlie Don’t Surf was created by Jeff and Pete, long time partners in Mobius Strip. Wanting to create funky, earthy jam music they searched for a drummer and the right one found them. Or more appropriately, they found each other.
Andrew, delivering a keg to their studio, admired the vintage “half stacks” and conversation led to a jam, the musical connection immediate. Looking for the right bass player to bring it home found Christian, a jazzy, funky player, the unit complete.
Charlie Don’t Surf covers funky songs and if a choice is not funky the band funks it up. Charlie “does the song” but “does it our way.” Jamming, flipping the beat around, “pushing the one” is what the band is about.
All write songs but Charlie Don’t Surf is an “original cover band” that covers the song but makes it their own, creatively satisfying for them and their audience.
Johnny Burgin
A true blues legend…
Johnny had a bang-up year in ’23, earning a BMA Nomination for Best Traditional Blues Artist and playing 200 dates across the US, Mexico, Japan and Europe. But if you’d told him this would be his career when he was in High School, he wouldn’t have belived you. Johnny grew up in Misssissippi and South Carolina and went to University of Chicago with the intention of becoming a writer. When a friend took him out to a West Side ghetto club to hear the blues singer Tail Dragger, it was a conversion moment. The blues came to life for Johnny and he fell headfirst into the vibrant Chicago blues scene. Choosing the blues clubs over the library, Johnny eagerly absorbed the lessons from the blues masters who practiced their craft nightly. By persistence and practice, Johnny gained a spot in Tail Dragger, and started gigging and recording with traditional blues veterans like Sam Lay, Billy Boy Arnold, and Pinetop Perkins. By the late 90s, Johnny was working regularly in Chicagoland blues clubs under his own name. Johnny started a Monday night residency at The Smoke Daddy in Wicker Park, featuring vocalist Jimmy Burns. The band featured other future blues notables who were also at beginning of their careers, such as Kenny Smith on drums and Martin Lang on harp, and they created quite a buzz. They packed the club every Monday with a younger, hip crowd, as well as blues veterans stopping by to sit in such as Dave Meyers, Jesse Fortune, Barkin’ Bill, etc. Their success led to a record deal with Delmark and the first of several European tours.

Lambertville’s native son and bard is also an accessible, warm neighbor and teacher, whether at his music store at 25 Bridge Street or on the sidewalks of the City.
